BMW B58 tune
There are two B58s. Gen 1 and Gen 2 (B58TU) run different DME software, and a file built for one does not belong in the other. Start by finding your chassis below — the rest of the path follows from that one answer.
Which B58 do you have?
Model year alone does not settle it — the 540i, the M240i and the Supra each change generation mid-run. Find your chassis, then follow it through to the pillar that carries the stages and hardware requirements for it.
B58 Gen 1
B58B30M0
The F-series cars plus the first G-series applications. Lower factory boost targets and a different DME calibration to Gen 2 — a Gen 2 file does not belong in one of these cars.
- Stock Turbo
- $400
- Hybrid Turbo
- $450
- Single Turbo
- $500

B58 Gen 2 / B58TU
B58B30M1
The updated B58 fitted from the G-series onward. Higher factory output, revised charge cooling and injection, and its own calibration — which is also why Flex Fuel is offered here and not on Gen 1.

B58 tune paths
Both generations run the same workflow. These pages cover what changes at each stage and on each fuel; the generation pillars cover what your specific engine can hold.
How a B58 tune is arrived at.
Remote, log-driven, and the same on both generations.
- 01
The generation is confirmed first
VIN and build details settle Gen 1 against Gen 2 before any file is written, because the two are not interchangeable.
- 02
The base file matches your hardware
Turbo, downpipe, charge cooling, fuel and transmission set the starting targets — not a stage number pulled off a shelf.
- 03
Your logs drive every revision
Boost target against actual, wastegate duty cycle, ignition timing, knock activity and fuel pressure are read on each round.
- 04
Revisions continue until it is on target
Logs come back, the file is adjusted, and the loop repeats for as long as the setup needs.
Before you flash anything
The reading that makes the revision rounds shorter — what to log, what wastegate duty cycle is telling you, and which fuel is worth it.
B58 tuning questions
- How do I know whether my BMW has a B58 Gen 1 or a Gen 2?
- Model year alone does not settle it, because several models changed generation mid-run — the 540i changed at the 2020 LCI, the M240i changed from F22 to G42, and the Supra changed from the 2020 A90 to the 2021 A91. The chassis tables on this page cover every car we calibrate; where a model spans both, send the VIN with your intake and we confirm the generation before quoting.
- Is a B58 Gen 1 tune the same file as a Gen 2 tune?
- No. The two generations run different DME software with different boost, fuelling and torque structures. A Gen 2 file does not belong in a Gen 1 car and the reverse is equally true, which is why the two have separate pages, separate stages and separate products.
- What does a B58 tune cost?
- Both generations are priced the same: stock turbo is $400, hybrid turbo is $450 and single turbo is $500 for the base calibration. Flex Fuel is a $200 add-on and is currently offered on B58 Gen 2 only. Every price shown on this page is read from the live product catalogue.
- Do I need a downpipe before you will tune my B58?
- Not for a stock-turbo calibration on pump fuel — that stage is built around the factory exhaust. A downpipe is expected before hybrid-turbo targets are set, and it changes what the file can safely ask for, so tell us at intake whether one is fitted.
- Can you tune a B58 remotely?
- Yes. The whole B58 workflow is remote: you flash the file yourself, record datalogs of the pulls we ask for, and the calibration is revised from those logs until it is on target. Nothing about the process needs the car in a workshop.

Still not sure which one you have?
Send the VIN with your intake. We confirm the generation, tell you which stage fits the hardware you already have, and quote from there.
